It's about music. It's about slam poetry. It's about how to spot and stop psychosis early!

Mother-Daughter ReachOut Fans from Kelowna Secondary!

Thanks to Shayla from KSS and her mom Tonya for their support of the ReachOut Program!

I went to ReachOut for Psychosis Performance, and it was rocking, radical, righteous! I loved it so much! It taught me how to learn to help my friends that were going through tough times. One of them has recovered from Anorexia, because I went to this performance; I was able to learn how to be supportive. They had a performance by The Matinee and it was amazing! I really enjoyed the poet, who ranted on about heartbreak. It was fantastic! I would thoroughly suggest that it you get the chance to go to this, you take advantage of seeing it. Especially if you’re feeling down or you know some one who you’re worried about that is having problems.  Going to this has opened my mind up to the feelings of others and showed me what I can do for others that are feeling depressed. It also made me realize the things you shouldn’t do and things that are just not your fault which you can’t change. All together it was awesome and I would encourage everyone to go be a part of the Reach Out Psychosis Performance!

I attended the ReachOut Psychosis Program at Kelowna Senior Secondary. I am a person living my “mental imperfection,” BiPolar. I am a regular presenter for the B.C. Schizophrenia Society and speak about my illness. I have been a member of the Canadian Mental Health Society’s Central Okanagan Consumer Council for a year. I was impressed with the performances by the Reach Out Program! Their individual approaches about many serious issues had the whole gym full of people focused on each positive message! The creative manner in which topics such as mental illness, depression, and heartache were expressed through a rant, music, and other performances really touched me on a personal level as I wished when I was growing up my school would have had performances such as these.  I am encouraged by the upbeat way in which ReachOut Psychosis Program opened the eyes of many youth who need to know there is ALWAYS someone to help them! Thank You for making such a wonderful difference through what you all do!
